Capri Travel Guide: Top 10 Shops
Capri sandals… one-of-a-kind clothing… cashmere wraps… the very best tabletop… jewelry… perfume… and more!
Here’s the thing… most of the food you’ll eat in Capri is incredible… it’s Italy, after all.
But, did you know Capri is one of the best places in the world to shop?
Jackie O loved Capri… Michael Kors does, too…
Here, you’ll find special things you can’t find anywhere else.
Italian craftsmanship at its best.
So, here goes…
MY TOP 10 FAVORITE SHOPS IN CAPRI:
1. LABORATORIO CAPRI: This small, family-owned shop has been in Capri – and only Capri – for more than 50 years. Every item is designed in-house and made by hand. Beautiful dresses, belts, cardigans, woven bags… truly special. Laboratorio never makes more than a few of each style. Ask for Mickey, tell him I sent you.

2. FARELLA CAPRI: My favorite shop for cashmere. This is where I go to buy cashmere wraps and Farella makes theirs with chic tassels. Made to order in just a few days. I buy at least one or two each time I go.

3. DANIELA DI STEFANO CAPRI OBJECT: Located near the taxi stand, steps from the piazzetta, Daniela di Stefano has THE BEST colored water and wine glasses, pitchers, vases, you name it… they’ll ship anything to the US.

4. AMEDEO: My dear friend, Amedeo Scognamiglio, is the reason I started going to Capri in the first place. His family has been making cameos for generations, and Amedeo has made cameos modern for this generation. His “Wise Monkeys” cameo rings are iconic.

5. FARAONE MENNELLA: Amedeo and his late partner, Roberto Faraone Mennella, together launched the jewelry line Faraone Mennella exactly 20 years ago. They gained fame after Kim Cattrall, as Samantha, wore their Stella earrings on Sex and the City. More recently, J.Lo was spotted here trying on jewelry, with Ben in tow.

6. BLU: This multi-brand shop steps from Aurora is the place to go for the most unique designer clothes and accessories you’ll find on the island. Berlin-based designers Rianna & Nina loved the shop so much, they created an entire collection inspired by Blu.

7. DELFINA: Not far from Blu is this relative newcomer to Capri. Delfina carries a great selection of easy-to-wear caftans, swimwear, and straw bags. Well priced, too.

8. CARTHUSIA: There was a time when you could only buy Carthusia perfume at the Carthusia shops in Capri. Now, they’re available online… but it’s still worth popping in to pick up some lemon-shaped soaps, which you can’t buy anywhere else. They make great hostess gifts in the summer.

9. DA COSTANZO: A favorite of Michael Kors and Dee Hilfiger, Da Costanzo is the place to get the best simple Capri sandals. Pick a style, they’ll measure your foot, and custom make the sandals, usually within a day.
Da Costanzo.
10. ANGELA PUTTINI: Beth Buccini, close friend and owner of Kirna Zabête, introduced me to this charming jewelry store several years ago. Puttini carries a seemingly endless collection of rings and earrings made from coins and coral, mixed with precious stones. They also have a great selection of baroque pearl necklaces. Ask for Antonella.

Other shops you don’t want to miss:
· Dolce & Gabbana… yes, I know, you can find Dolce everywhere… but this shop has special items made just for Capri… I always find something here… and the shop itself is beautiful.
· Grey Flannel… this luxury, multi-brand boutique is like the Bergdorf Goodman of Capri… everything from Alaia to Balmain to Alexander McQueen… there are two locations, within steps of each other.
· Canfora… where Jackie O ordered her custom-made Capri sandals… across the street from the Grand Hotel Quisisana… Canfora has more embellished styles than Da Costanzo.
If you’re lucky enough to go to Capri this year (you know who you are) … well, by all means – SHOP!
I hope to meet you there next year!
