Oscars 2022 Red Carpet Theme: Break The Rules
So, I know what you’re thinking — aren’t you going to talk about this?

This is not that story.
Though me just say for the record: I’m still in shock.
That said, let’s talk fashion.
If you love fashion like I do, then watching the Oscars red carpet is like watching the Oscars of red carpets.
Get it?
Thought so.
This year, the new guard is getting most of the attention.
Kristen Stewart in shorts!
Timothée Chalamet sans shirt!
Zoë… Zendaya… Billie!
Who was best dressed?
Here you go:
My Top 10 Favorite Looks from the 2022 Oscars Red Carpet:
Zendaya in VALENTINO HAUTE COUTURE: Zendaya is the reigning queen of the red carpet. Always surprises. Always right on the mark. This Valentino Haute Couture white silk satin cropped shirt and silver organza skirt is high fashion modern glamour at its very best.

Nicole Kidman in ARMANI PRIVÉ: This five-time Oscar nominee is Hollywood royalty, and it always shows on the red carpet. I remember almost every Oscars gown Kidman has ever worn. She’s the master of creating memorable looks. This Armani Privé is instantly iconic, and commentators have already dubbed the shade “Kidman blue.”

Zoë Kravitz in SAINT LAURENT: Zoë Kravitz is the only actress I know who can take what would otherwise be a sweet pink gown and make it look edgy, chic, and hot. It’s probably because Kravitz herself is edgy, chic, and hot. She’s a brand ambassador for Saint Laurent, a fashion marriage made in heaven.

Ariana DeBose in VALENTINO HAUTE COUTURE: Ariana DeBose made history as the first openly queer woman of color to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, so what she wore is almost immaterial (pardon the pun). But since we’re here, let’s talk about it. Pants! A cape! And a crop top! Somehow, when you put it all together, it just works.

Lily James in ATELIER VERSACE: Few fashion houses do sexy the way Versace does sexy. And this dress is sexy. Lily James looks gorgeous in it. What more is there to say?

Uma Thurman in BOTTEGA VENETA: Remember when Uma Thurman wore that lilac Prada gown to the 1995 Oscars? I certainly do. Prada was not yet a big red-carpet name. Things changed after that night. Bottega Veneta will likely get a lift, too. Thanks to Thurman and her stylist, Kate Young.

Penelope Cruz in CHANEL: Best Actress Nominee Penelope Cruz is always a knockout on the red carpet. She’s a brand ambassador for Chanel, the holy grail of fashion houses. Imagine Chanel making a gown for you for the Oscars. PS, this is my favorite photo of Cruz in her gown, alongside my dear friend, Cruz’s longtime manager, Jason Weinberg (wearing Isaia and Alexander McQueen).

Billie Eilish in GUCCI: Billie Eilish loves voluminous looks, and she loves Gucci, so this gown really suits her. There’s just something about it. It works.

Kristen Stewart in CHANEL: To be honest, I’m not so sure this is one of my favorite looks, but I do give Kristen Stewart credit for being bold. Shorts. At the Oscars. It’s definitely a look.

Timothée Chalamet in LOUIS VUITTON: “Timothée Chalamet goes shirtless to Oscars” — that’s a real headline. I know. It’s a little shocking to see someone without a shirt at the Oscars, but hey — it’s Timothée Chalamet, what did you expect? Did you think he was going to play it safe?

Okay, I know you have opinions...
What did you think about last night’s Oscars red carpet?
Did you love or hate Kristen Stewart’s shorts? What about Timothée Chalamet’s shirtless number?
Let me know in the comments! I can’t wait to read them.
