Last fall, when I traveled to Paris during fashion week, I spent one afternoon getting lost at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs wandering through the Thierry Mugler exhibit.

I set aside an hour. I stayed for nearly three.
There was just so much to take in. So much to learn.

Oh, and recognize this fragrance?
Mugler’s iconic scent, Angel – 30 years after its launch – still is one of the most popular and recognizable fragrances in the world.

The designer known for making futuristic clothes with exaggerated shoulders and tiny waists died on Sunday at the age of 73.

I remember two things.
Browsing the Mugler boutique on Avenue Montaigne almost every weekend when I was living in Paris during my junior year abroad.
And one sunny day last fall when I walked into an exhibit and didn’t want to leave.
Here are some of the photos I took that day.
Why use words when you can experience the beauty with your own eyes?
