Top 10 Restaurants in Capri, Italy — 2022 Edition
Here’s the thing about Capri.
People who go year after year tend to go to the same few restaurants year after year.
Get this.
I just heard about a New York couple who stays at the Quisisana for a month and dines every single night at Villa Verde.
At the same table.

I’m not joking.
I know it seems, well, stupid, but I finally figured it out.
We’re traveling all that way… to be somewhere we love… in a place that feels familiar.
And food is a big part of that.
The truth is you can’t have a bad meal in Capri.
That said, I do have my favorites.
And here they are…
MY TOP 10 RESTAURANTS IN CAPRI — 2022 EDITION:
1. RISTORANTE VILLA VERDE: If you’re looking for a place with great energy, look no further than Villa Verde. On any given night, you’ll find people standing up and dancing, twirling their napkins and — generally — having a lot of fun. The food is phenomenal, too. This statement will be controversial, but I think Villa Verde makes the best pizza on the island. FAVORITE DISH: Pizza Margherita.

2. RISTORANTE DA GIORGIO: Looking to dine with a view? Da Giorgio is it. Request a table by the window overlooking the Bay of Naples. If I had to eat at just one restaurant during my entire stay in Capri, I would choose Da Giorgio. FAVORITE DISH: Pennette Aumm Aumm (eggplant pasta).

3. RISTORANTE DA PAOLINO: This is the famous “lemon tree restaurant.” Though some knock the food, the latest rap is that Da Paolino is having a moment again. The food is really, really good. It’s also the most romantic restaurant in Capri. Don’t miss the dessert room. FAVORITE DISH: Grilled Mozzarella between Lemon Leaves.

4. AURORA: If you’re looking to be seen, Aurora is it. This is celeb central. Aurora is always buzzing. Great for lunch, too. FAVORITE DISH: Capellini with Salted Butter and Caviar.

5. PULALLI: If you’ve ever been to Capri, you know where the clock tower is in the Piazzetta. Pulalli is the restaurant inside the clock tower — at the top. Climb the stairs and you’ll enter a tiny space with about a dozen tables and a great view of all the action below. FAVORITE DISH: Ravioli alla Caprese.

6. LA FONTELINA: This is the famous beach club with the blue and white umbrellas that you’ve seen all over Instagram. Yes, it’s a beach club. But it also serves the best lunch on the island. I start with the prosciutto and melon, followed by pasta or the grilled squid, which is outstanding. Do not forget to order the white sangria, which comes with tons of fresh fruit. FAVORITE DISH: Linguine “Fontelina” (seafood pasta).

7. VILLA MARGHERITA: If you’re looking for a low-key, yummy dinner, Villa Margherita is it. Great for big groups. FAVORITE DISH: Spaghetti Vongole.

8. RISTORANTE LO SCOGLIO: Did any of you watch Stanley Tucci’s Searching for Italy series? If so, you may remember that he visited Lo Scoglio, which technically is not in Capri but on the Amalfi Coast, about a 30-minute boat ride away. This is where they make the famed Spaghetti alla Nerano (zucchini pasta), which is the most delicious dish I’ve ever tasted. FAVORITE DISH: Spaghetti alla Nerano.

9. J.K. PLACE: If you read my story from yesterday on the Top 10 Things to Do in Capri on a Budget, then you know that the Bellini at J.K. Place is the best in the world. It’s made with fresh peach juice, which makes all the difference. For the last two entries (9 and 10), I thought I’d include the best places to go for cocktails. J.K. Place is where you’ll find — hands down — the best drink.

10. HOTEL CAESAR AUGUSTUS: If you want the best view – and I mean the very best — head to Anacapri — on the other side of the island. The Hotel Caesar Augustus reminds me of The Beverly Hills Hotel. And truly has the best vista. Worth the 25-minute taxi ride. Go for sunset cocktails.
